How to Make Homemade Facial Chemical Peels

Chemical peels have been used to remove superficial blemishes and fine lines on the face since the 1920s. The chemicals used contain glycolic acids that dissolve the top layers of skin, sloughing off dead cells, revealing the blemish-free skin underneath. However, chemical peels are harsh on sensitive skin, involve long recovery time, and are expensive. One alternative is a cucumber peel. It uses natural products that, when combined, can produce tighter, smoother and softer skin.

Instructions

Steep the green tea and chamomile tea in 4 oz. of hot water. Strain the teas. Add unflavored gelatin to the steeped teas and stir the mixture over low heat until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

Whip the cucumber in a blender or food processor until it is the consistency of paste. Strain it through cheese cloth or a sieve, reserving the juice.

Remove the tea mixture from heat and pour into a glass bowl. Add cucumber juice and aloe vera gel to the mixture and stir.

Refrigerate for 25 minutes, until the mixture thickens.

Using your hands, apply the cucumber peel to the thoroughly scrubbed face and neck. Leave on for 20 minutes until it dries.

Peel off the mask and rinse with warm water. Pat dry.
