How to Get Rid of Freckles & Sunspots

Freckles and sunspots are both characterized by small, flat, brown patches on the skin. Although one is hereditary and the other caused by age, both can be made worse by too much exposure to the sun. Instructions

Treat your discolored spots naturally with lemon juice. Cut a lemon in half and sprinkle with a teaspoon of sugar. Directly exfoliate the affected areas with the lemon and sugar for several minutes. Repeat this process weekly until the spots have faded.

Purchase a skin fading or bleaching cream from your local drug store. Watch for products that contain at least 2 percent hydroquinone and kojic acid. For extra effectiveness, pair a bleaching cream with a cream that contains retinoids. Apply the creams as directed by the manufacturer for several months until you see results.

Discuss with your doctor whether your sunspots and freckles would respond to cryosurgery treatment. This involves freezing or burning off individual spots, but is not guaranteed to work without scarring. You can also ask your doctor about laser treatments or chemical peels that successfully lighten skin.
