You have used commercial hand cleaners for years to remove grease and grime from your hands. The cleaners don't always cut into the grease and some have a unusual chemical smell. Hand cleaners consist of soap, water and a gritting agent to break up dirt and grime. You don't have to keep buying a commercial hand cleaner. You can make a good hand cleaner at home that is safe to use and effective at removing grease from your hands.

Instructions

    1

Grate cup of bar soap into a saucepan or pot.

    2

Add 1 cup of water to the saucepan or pot.

    3

Place the saucepan or pot on the stove over low heat.

    4

Stir the soap and water until the soap is melted.

    5

Turn off the saucepan or pot and let the melted soap cool for three minutes.

    6

Add 1 tbsp. of fine mason's sand or pumice to the melted soap.

    7

Stir the soap and sand/pumice mixture well.

    8

Spoon the hand cleaner into a plastic container and cover the container with its lid until you have to use it.

To use, pour the mixture on your hands (or use a plastic spoon to dip the mixture out of the container), lather and then rinse the hand cleaner off with warm water.
