How to Get Rid of Pesky Blackheads

Blackheads are caused when dirt and sebum (oil) are exposed to air, causing the oil inside of your pore(s) turns a dark color. Many times, oils from our hair and skin clog the pores and make us prone to blackheads. Although simple cleaning can't remove blackheads, after you've used a blackhead treatment, it's important to keep your skin clean and dry each day to reduce further outbreaks of blackheads. Use a daily cleanser and moisturizer to keep facial region clean. Remember that blackheads can appear anywhere on the body, so keep your entire body free of excess oil as well if you tend to have reoccurring problems with blackheads.

Get rid of unsightly blackheads with a treatment that contains salicylic acid -- the same active ingredient that helps clear up and prevent facial acne. You can purchase a salicylic treatments from any drugstore, some are even specially formulated for blackheads.

Astringents also work well to prevent and reduce episodes of blackheads. You can even try basic rubbing alcohol applied with a cotton swab to attack problem areas.

If your blackheads are located on your nose (a common site for blackheads), you can purchase blackhead remover strips that work to lift layer after layer of skin until the blackhead is successfully removed. These blackhead remover strips can be purchased at drugstores everywhere.
