How to Make Almond and Orange Body Soap

Almond and orange body soap is a simple, easy-to-make soap that does not require the use of sodium hydroxide, also known as lye, which can be potentially dangerous if you are unfamiliar with cold process soap making. Making homemade soaps can be a fun project for your family or friends, and it can also save you quite a bit of money. This recipe makes four separate 4-oz. bars of almond and orange body soap.

Instructions

Grate the clear glycerin soap base into pieces, and place the pieces in a heatproof measuring cup.

Put the measuring cup in a large saucepan half-filled with warm water. Heat the saucepan over low heat until the soap has fully melted. This usually takes about 5 to 6 minutes but varies depending on the soap base.

Take the saucepan off the heat. Add tsp. each of the almond and orange essential oils, and stir the mixture for 30 seconds to combine the ingredients.

Pour the soap into the soap bar mold you have chosen. Let the soap bar rest, untouched, for 5 to 6 hours to fully harden. When the soap has hardened, flip the mold over and push the soap out with your thumbs. Trim the edges with a sharp knife to make even corners if you wish.
