Papaya cuticle soak is a simple, natural cure for sore, ragged, and rough-looking cuticles. This treatment is best applied after showering because the cuticles will have softened, making it easier to apply. Making your own cosmetics and skin-care products has many benefits, including saving you money from not having to buy expensive commercial products. Homemade skin-care products also eschew the use of potentially dangerous additives and preservatives often found in commercial products. The papaya cuticle soak makes enough for one treatment of both hands, though the recipe is easily adjusted to accommodate more people--and more cuticles.
Instructions
- 1
Combine the papaya and extra virgin olive oil in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until the papaya begins to break down, about 10 minutes.
2Transfer the papaya and olive oil to a small mixing bowl and mash with a potato masher.
3Transfer the mashed papaya and olive oil to a blender cup and add the wheat germ oil. Blend for about one minute on high speed.
4Pour the mixture into a small glass jar with a tight-fitting lid.
5Apply the mixture to the cuticle of one of your fingers with an orange stick while pushing back against the cuticle.
6Massage the papaya mixture into the cuticle gently for about 15 seconds. Soak the fingertip for about 5 minutes in the juice mixture before moving on to the next finger until all your fingers have been treated. Rinse fingers in warm water and pat dry.
