How to Make Moisterizer at Home

Moisturizer is not difficult to make at home if you use a plant-based oil and add different essential oils to scent it. Store your moisturizer in dark-colored glass containers. Do a basic skin patch test on any essential oils you use to be certain you are not allergic to them.
Essential oils are extracted from flowers, plants and herbs and can be purchased online or in health food stores.

Instructions

Do a skin patch test so you do not develop a skin rash from your homemade moisturizer. Dab the oils and the essential oils you want to use on your inner elbow. Cover with a bandage and keep it on overnight.
If you have a rash the next morning, do not use those oils for your moisturizer.

Pour 10 ounces of any combination of sweet almond, sesame, coconut, corn or peanut oil into a dark-colored glass bottle. Jojoba oil is also a good choice. It is a plant wax that is similar to sebum, the oil naturally produced by the skin.

Add 15 drops each of however many essential oils you would like to perfume your moisturizer. Lavender is good for sensitive skin.
Clary sage and tea tree oil are good for oily skin. Chamomile and rose are good for dry skin. More masculine scents include rosemary, peppermint, cedarwood and pine.

Store the moisturizer in a dry, dark place like a cabinet. To use, dab on wet skin. Do not use on the face as the oils may be too heavy.
For a good moisturizer for the face, try jojoba oil instead.
