How to Remove Food Coloring Stains From Skin

Food coloring is a type of dye that can quickly stain your skin. Whether you were coloring Easter eggs, cooking with food coloring or even doing an experiment with your kids, food coloring stains are unsightly. No matter how hard you scrub, washing your skin with soap and water is not enough to remove food-coloring stains. Once the dye penetrates the skin, a more aggressive approach is necessary. A few common household products will effectively clean food coloring from the skin.

Instructions

    1

Moisten an old rag with water. Wipe down your skin with the rag to lighten the food coloring stains.

    2

Saturate a clean rag with white vinegar. Rub the vinegar-soaked rag over the food coloring stains. Switch to clean portions of the rag, or get a new one and add more vinegar, as the rag becomes filled with the dye.

    3

Mix a baking soda and water paste for stubborn food coloring stains. Pour 3 parts baking soda and 1 part water into a bowl. Stir with a spoon until a paste forms.

    4

Dip a rag into the paste and scoop some out. Rub the paste onto your skin until the food coloring stain has lifted. Switch to clean portions of the rag and apply more paste as necessary.

    5

Wash your skin with soap and water and rinse with plain water.
