Untreated water contains solid particles, like iron and copper, which are found in pipes and the ground. These particles can be removed through a process called deionization.

Identification

Deionized water is created through an ion-exchange process, where the negative ions (solids) are pulled out of the water using positively charged resin (anion resin). This process leaves the water nearly pure.

Cars

Deionized water is used to clean car windshields and windows. It also can be used to dilute antifreeze. The water helps prevents dirt build-up and corrosion.

Experiments

Scientists prefer to use deionized water because the solids in regular water can interfere with the results of chemistry experiments.

Pressurized Cleaning

Deionized water is commonly used by maintenance professionals who use pressure washers to clean the sides of buildings. Because the water seeks out negative ions like dirt and solids to replace those it lost, it effectively removes dirt from surfaces.

Warning

Though deionized water removes solid particles, there are still organisms, like bacteria and protozoa, present in the water that can be harmful to humans. Two examples are salmonella and E. coli, which can cause fevers, nausea and diarrhea.

  1. Great to see your blog. Very informative information about water filter.

Premiere produced Deionized Water System by removing the dissolved salt in water. Calcium bicarbonate, magnesium sulfate, and sodium chloride are the primary salts present in water and are removed by deionization.

    Thanks!
